EXCIPIENTS

Excipients help to make the cosmetic, they are the vehicle in which the active ingredients are placed, giving the form in which the final product will be consumed. They can be creams, gels, foams or powders, among others.

ADDITIVES AND CORRECTORS

Additives and correctors are the preservatives, colorants, perfumes and stabilizers of the formula. They are responsible for improving the characteristics of cosmetics.

  • Preservatives prevent the cosmetic from spoiling due to contamination caused by bacteria, fungi and yeast.
  • The stabilizers in the formula serve to prevent the active ingredients from spoiling.
  • Perfumes in cosmetics are basically used to produce a pleasant olfactory experience by covering up bad odors that some ingredient of the cosmetic may have.
  • Dyes give color and can be of vegetable or synthetic origin. Natural dyes are increasingly being used thanks to the promotion of the circular economy. Some of the most common examples are green tea waste, dried peppers, chlorophylls from beans or henna.
